About the Artist
Nico Roper (they/them) is a queer artist born and raised in Colorado, with a BFA in Illustration from Ringling College of Art and Design.
Inspired by childhood visits to museums and book fairs, their art focuses on designing educational illustrations that invite viewers to engage with the whimsy of the world around them. Their work is founded on the belief that art is a universal language and uniquely suited to get people excited about learning.
In addition to their educational work, they enjoy creating fantastical pieces stylistically influenced by the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki and Tove Jansson.
Some of the clients they’ve worked with include Quanta Magazine and NASA, where they created complex pieces that appealed to both adult and child audiences.
When they’re not drawing, Nico enjoys playing video games with friends, rollerskating around town, and keeping bugs.
